And for the record I am including the anti-Trump to the point of derangement. The latest and one of the most dominant examples is the fawning coverage of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un’s sister Kim Yo Jong at the winter Olympics.
For the record, she is the Deputy Director of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of North Korea. In short, when her North Korean dictator brother fires a howitzer styled weapon at his next victim or murders his own people she will help make sure the messaging is right.
Ask yourself, would this same crowd have fawned over Hitler‘s sister if he had one or Eva Braun?
It’s not a secret or new that the families of any president regardless of party will have security issues from citizens who don’t like them. Based on the lack of reaction from the usual suspects in politics or media within the Democratic establishment, is it a good look for you when Vanessa Trump, a mother of five children goes to the hospital? The answer is many on the left don’t care.
The day of the Super Bowl, in the early morning hours Indianapolis Colts player Edwin Jackson and Jeffrey Monroe, a 54-year-old Uber driver, were killed by a drunk illegal alien from Guatemala who had been deported twice. Had two black men been murdered in the same incident by a white man or shot by police officers there would’ve been riots in the streets. Here the left had to choose between one of their protected classes, illegal aliens especially one with brown skin over their other protected class, black people. The coverage was minimal on most media. Do any of you get the point of my tragic and somewhat sarcastic reference?
The left does not want to debate policy because many of the things that are now being proposed, they once supported. It becomes more obvious that they fear losing the wedge issues and the sales pitch to their base more than the success of the average middle-class American.
There are many areas where there can be disagreement and certainly when it to comes to the president’s budget proposal, even Republicans and fiscal conservatives like myself are concerned. It is not mutually exclusive that a fiscal conservative can also appreciate the pragmatism necessary to begin a pathway to grow the economy and then deal with the spending and deficit issues in Washington, D.C.
On immigration, especially DACA, the Democrats must resist any proposal that may result in a solution credited to the Republican Party. President TrumpDonald John TrumpTillerson: Russia already looking to interfere in 2018 midtermsDems pick up deep-red legislative seat in MissouriSpeier on Trump’s desire for military parade: ‘We have a Napoleon in the making’MORE must realize that even though it is smart to position the left publicly they will never give him a win. In the construction of a building, deals are made to finish the project, get a certificate of occupancy for the eventual return on investment. In politics and especially now, no deal will be made unless both sides can claim credit.
On infrastructure, where there would be alignment of outcomes between Republicans and Democrats, although often for different reasons, Democrats cannot lose a multi-year battle where the average American sees a benefit under a Republican leadership.
More people, especially union members working in better paying jobs, benefiting from an updated infrastructure is a bad thing for Democrats if they are not the ones taking from the taxpayers to find another Obama-like stimulus. Remember the shovel ready jobs that weren’t so shovel ready after all?
Here is something the right must do.
The White House, Republican leadership, right-leaning pundits and Republicans in general need to put aside their disagreements and start speaking more about the accomplishments under this president. When the media brings you in to stir the pot of controversy, bring the litany of successes and reinforce that messaging at the same time. If Republicans don’t begin to speak more forcefully about what has been done successfully, there’s a good chance Democrats may out message and this may be a one-term presidency. Maybe they need a talk show host or few to help them learn how to talk to the American people.
