Yes, Meghan Markle is fully at the point where even the most bland, innocuous smile-and-nod responses she makes at royal engagements are going to get spun out into full-throttle news cycles. We want to know it all!
On Wednesday, on the second day of her tour of Ireland (alongside Prince Harry, some red-haired dude Meghan always seems to be hanging out with), Meghan was asked by a well-wisher about her prior life as an actress on the USA series Suits. (It really seems like decades ago, doesn’t it? It’s wild to consider she went from making gifting-suite appearances six years ago to rubbing shoulders with Queen Elizabeth on the Buckingham Palace balcony on a regular basis.)
But there are—even if you might not know any yourself—a whole lot of Suits fanatics out there, for whom (at least in some sense) Meghan is as much paralegal Rachel Zane as she is a very famous duchess. Fiona Moore, from Dublin, who was able to speak with Meghan outside the Irish Emigration Museum, told reporters afterward that Meghan seemed “relaxed.” She continued, “I’m a fan of Suits, and I said to her that I miss it, and she said, ‘So do I.’”
Of course, to make too much of this answer would be silly—it’s not as though Meghan is going to respond, “Suits? What . . . is that?” and turn around with a smirk—but it is interesting to consider whether or not there are any aspects of her life Meghan might miss, before her family began talking to the press on a regular basis and her every leg movement was charted by British tabloids.
Moore added, “She seemed very relaxed and was joking and laughing,” with another individual, Caroline Bates, reporting back, “Meghan really took her time and looked us in the eye. She was really nice. She’s a breath of fresh air in the royal family.”
