The hot weather and royal wedding celebrations helped to encouraged retail spending last month, official figures indicate.
Retail sales volumes rose 1.3% in May from a month earlier, the Office for National Statistics said.
Sales were up 3.9% from the same month a year earlier, the ONS said, up from April’s annual growth rate of 1.4%.
The ONS said the royal wedding and good weather had encouraged spending in food and household goods stores.Tags: boosts, royal, stores, weather, wedding
